Experience

Huma Sheikh, MD, is a board-certified neurologist, specializing in migraine and stroke. She completed a fellowship in stroke, followed by a secondary fellowship in headache and facial pain, and then joined Brigham and Women's Hospital—Harvard University as a clinical instructor. She helped to precept other Headache Fellows and took call for stroke patients.

Dr. Sheikh, along with a colleague, formed the Migraine and Vascular Section for the American Headache Society. They completed a systematic review looking at the use of oral contraceptives in women with migraine. Moving closer to home, Dr. Sheikh joined Mount Sinai Hospital as an assistant professor. After spending three years there, Dr. Sheikh started a private practice. Still affiliated with Mount Sinai, taking patients with acute strokes, Dr. Sheikh also currently does Locum Tenens concentrating in stroke as well with Westchester Hospital.

Dr. Sheikh has contributed to a number of medical publications and among many honors has received Teacher of the Year at Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Hospital, received a grant from the International Headache Society, and received the Frontier in Headache Award.

Education

Huma Sheikh, MD, received her doctorate from New Jersey Medical School, completed a neurology residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, and a vascular (stroke) fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Sheikh also completed a headache and facial pain fellowship from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Massachusetts.
