Elena Klimenko, MD, is a board-certified doctor in internal medicine and licensed in medical acupuncture. After obtaining her board certification in internal medicine in 2003, Dr. Klimenko served underprivileged patient populations for over 16 years in several New York City clinics. While seeking further education in the field of integrative medicine, she completed two years of research in the area of complementary and alternative medicine. In 2007 she was invited to become a part of teaching faculty at CEDH (Center for Education and Development of Homeopathy), an international organization with representation in 24 countries, dedicated to training healthcare practitioners in clinical homeopathy.
Dr. Klimenko currently leads her medical practice at Healthy Wealthy & Wise Medical, PC in New York City since 2007. She dedicates her professional time to resolving medical “mysteries” using multiple tools of conventional and alternative medicine. She enjoys implementing functional medicine to prevent, stabilize, and reverse chronic illnesses, and she helps her patients obtain optimal health with whole food nutrition, supplements, medical herbs, homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Klimenko received her medical doctorate degree in Moscow Medical Academy #1, one of the best medical schools of the former Soviet Union (1994). She completed her postgraduate medical training at SUNY Downstate and Lutheran Medical Center (currently NYU), where she received board certification in Internal Medicine (2003).
Dr. Klimenko completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at Continuum for Health and Healing, Albert Einstein School of Medicine (2005) and at the same time obtained certification in medical acupuncture at Helms Medical Institute (2005). Shortly after, she completed her training and certification in clinical homeopathy at the Center for Education and Development of Homeopathy (2006).
She furthered her education with six years of learning functional medicine at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and became one of the first certified functional medicine practitioners in the world (2014). Being a leader in setting the standards for functional medicine education and training, IFM teaches how and why illness occurs and how to restore health by addressing the root causes of the disease for each individual.
Dr. Klimenko has a special interest and expertise in using functional medicine principles in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses, cognitive decline, and the treatment of environmental toxicity.
